EARLY ON

Bill Covey was born to Charles Evert Covey and Mary Emma Turner Covey in the family home in Amarillo, Texas where he lived with his mother and father until the age of three.

He then moved to Danville, Arkansas where his mother was lost to him in a house fire. He, along with his father, then moved to the home of his grandmother who raised him as her own.

He started school in Danville but after the first two years of school a move was made to Watson, Desha County, Arkansas where he attended school until graduation.

And so it wuz, Watson is where it wuz...Watson was home until he went into the army and even then remained very much a part of him.

Bill Covey, Author

The author as he appears today...many years after living in Watson and many years after living, and sometimes not living, through the antics described in "Watson Is Where It Wuz".

After graduation from Watson High School the author enlisted in the United States Army and there remained for over twenty years.

He was promised that he would see the world if he joined the army. The promise was not broken as he served three tours in Germany, one in England, one in Central America and two in the Republic of Vietnam. He also served at Fort Hood, Texas, Pine Bluff Chemical Arsenal, Arkansas, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Wolters, Texas, Fort Chaffee, Arkansas and Washington, DC.

After retiring he completed the requirements for the Bachelor of Science Degree at Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

After two years of graduate school at Northeastern he travelled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he worked the better part of seventeen years.

Bill now spends his time working on genealogy and writing yet another book.
